FAQ. |
How does this work?
After enrolling you will be asked to complete our intake form. The form asks the same questions we would ask if you were sitting in our dental chair. For urgent care we will review your form, and contact you within 15-90 minutes via phone or text. For second opinions, questions, or consultations we will review your issues and submissions and reach out within a day or two. Second opinion video reports will be emailed within 4 business days.
How long after completing my forms will I be contacted?
Our hours are 7am to 9pm MST. Expect to be contacted in 15-90 minutes. If you have submitted your forms, but have not heard from us in 2 hours please text 801-254-0713. Please include your full name and birthdate for verification. If you no longer need our services by the time we get back to you, your payment will be refunded if requested. Second Opinion video reports are confirmed within 24 hours and sent will be sent within 4 business days of submission.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. You can cancel anytime by texting or calling or texting 801-254-0713. There are no refunds unless we can't get to you fast enough to help with your urgent situation. Keep in mind, if you cancel a monthly subscription before completing 6 monthly payments, you cannot resubscribe with a monthly plan in the future. You must resubscribe with Yearly Plan or Pay Per-Use.
How can it be only $10/month?
We have proven that if we provide amazing and timely customer service at a low monthly fee our patients will value maintaining their subscription rather than canceling after their immediate needs are taken care of. Most months you may not need us, but because of the size of our membership, we will always be here in the months that you do.
Can I get pain medication through a Substitute Dentist Membership?
Yes. After a video or audio chat we can call in appropriate pain medications. The Cochrane Library, a leader in evidence based medicine, has helped shape our pain protocol. When appropriate we use Celoxcib, Pregabalin and Acetaminophen to help relieve pain while you make arrangements for treatment. We do not prescribe narcotics.
Is Substitute Dentist a good idea for dental emergencies?
It certainly can be. Eventually most dental emergencies will require treatment, but sometimes you just need advice, antibiotics or pain medications. Substitute Dentist is perfect for that. We can also help direct you to the appropriate dental professional, saving you time and money. If you have a dental emergency and we can't get to you quick enough simply cancel and request a refund, and you will be reimbursed.
How do I get my x-rays from my dentist for a second opinion? How do I get them to you?
Simply request them to be emailed to you and then email them to us or upload them through our intake form. If you are concerned about offending your dentist please keep in mind that your dentist will most likely never know you requested them. Many patients also request their x-rays for other reasons than a second opinion. For example, apps like MyChart, Apple Health, and Microsoft Health Vault allow patients to store their own medical records and would require a patient to request those records from their dentist.
Can I use Flex Spending or Insurance?
To keep fees low, we do not submit claims to insurance for teledentistry due to the significant logistical hurdles we would have to deal with. However, you may contact your insurer and file your own claim if you enroll in a pay per use plan. You may use a Flex Spending Account to pay the membership fee. You can use dental insurance if you choose to be treated in our office.
With a membership how often can I text a question, get a prescription or get a second opinion?
We're here when you need us. We reserve the right to limit services if abuse our services is apparent.
